Home Curriculum Method Q&A Trainer Products

Good Dog! Obedience Training focuses on companion dog training, meaning, teaching pet dogs good manners. The six-week basic obedience class can be customized to meet your needs, but typically includes the following:

· Sit
· Down
· Sit-stay
· Down-stay
· Loose Leash Walking
· Settle/”go to your bed”
· Polite Greetings
· Recalls/”come”

Each weekly lesson lasts one hour with flexible meeting times scheduled between 7AM - 4PM Monday through Thursday, 7AM - 2PM on Friday and Saturday.

Lessons 1 - 4 take place in and around your home. Lesson 5 is typically a “field trip” to a local shopping plaza, which helps your dog learn to work amid distractions.

As with piano lessons or golf lessons, success is achieved through practice and repetition. That’s why you, the dog owner, are so important. Each lesson builds on the exercises taught the prior week. Practicing with your dog each day between instructor-led sessions is the key to the success of your dog’s training program. Basic obedience should be blended into your dog’s everyday activities, so it’s your dog never knows what’s “real life” and what’s “training.”

When to begin? The youngest Good Dog! Obedience Training canine student was 10 weeks old, and the oldest was 10 years! It’s never too early or too late to train your dog!
